Man charged with wounding remanded
A man who is before the court after almost disembowelling a man who tried to evict him from a property has been remanded.
Errol Grey was remanded in custody when he appeared in the Santa Cruz Resident Magistrates Court yesterday for assault and wounding with intent.
The allegations are that earlier this month, Grey was approached by a man whose family is said to own the property on which he lives.
The man reportedly asked Grey who had given him permission to live at the house and an argument developed.
It’s alleged that Grey grabbed the man by the neck throwing him to the ground.
It is further alleged that another man who was next door heard the commotion and made attempts to intervene in the dispute.
However, Grey reportedly went inside and returned with a knife which he used cut the man in the belly exposing his intestines.
The man was taken to hospital where he spent almost two weeks.
Grey was subsequently arrested and charged.
He is set to reappear in court on February 19 when the matter is set for mention.
