The Major Organised Crime and Anti-corruption Agency (MOCA) says it has made a significant dent in a criminal network involved in the production of fraudulent motor vehicle insurance documents.
It says it is to question two people, one of who is believed to be the mastermind behind the fraudulent scheme, which has reportedly netted millions of dollars.
MOCA says the two were arrested during pre-dawn operations at separate locations in the Corporate Area yesterday morning.
The predawn operations were carried out by detectives from MOCA and the JCF Fraud Squad, assisted by members of the Mobile Reserve Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) Team.
It says the operations were geared at persons suspected of stealing Cover Notes from a prominent insurance company.
MOCA says during the raid, a large quantity of Drivers' Licence Applications, Driver’s Licences, Motor Vehicle Titles, Fitness Certificates and Cover Notes belonging to the insurance company were seized at one location.
And at another location they recovered items used in the production of motor vehicle insurance documents.
MOCA says the arrested individuals are scheduled to be interviewed in the presence of their attorneys following which formal charges will be laid.
