UWI St Augustine students vow to continue protest
Students at the St Augustine campus of the University of the West Indies (UWI) have vowed to continue their protest as they demand their grades from last year's exams.
Yesterday, students blocked the gates to the institution.
Lecturers have refused to hand over grades as they protest the non-payment of an estimated TT$87 million in arrears owed to them.
Public Relations Officer with the Students Guild, Nikoli Edwards, said the estimated 18,000 students have been caught in the middle of a dispute between the lecturers and management.
He said the Guild is upset that students and their grades are being used as a bargaining tool.
