FOOTBALL: Reggae Boyz goalie lands deal with Riverhounds
Jamaican goalkeeper Ryan Thompson has signed a deal with the Pittsburgh Riverhounds in the United States Soccer League (USL).
Thompson has played for Jamaica’s national senior team on two occasions.
He also represented the junior Reggae Boyz at the Under-20 and Under-23 levels.
Thompson was a member of Jamaica’s team which won the CFU Caribbean Cup in December 2014.
He spent last season with the Tampa Bay Rowdies of the North American Soccer League in 2014.
Thompson, a former Harbour View goalkeeper, became the first Jamaican to play in the UEFA Champions League in July 2011, when he kept goal for Ireland’s Shamrock Rovers in a 1-0 loss at FC Copenhagen.
