The National Irrigation Commission Limited says several of its water meters in Lakes Pen, St Catherine have been stolen.

A statement from the commission said the incident has been reported to the Spanish Town Police who are investigating the matter.

Meanwhile, the agency’s director of engineering and technical services, Milton Henry is appealing to the public not to steal the commission's property.

According to him, the irrigation commission has lost millions as a result of theft over the years.

Stealing property from the commission is a criminal offence which can lead to a three year custodial sentence under the Irrigation Act.
