BASKETBALL: Calabar takes Inter-Secondary Schools double

Calabar High captured the Inter-Secondary Schools Sports Association (ISSA)/Under-19 and Under-16 All Island Basketball titles at the GC Foster College in St Catherine yesterday.



Calabar won the Under-16 title, after a close 36-33 victory over St Jago.



Javaughn Taylor with eight points and nine rebounds, Jordan Kellier seven points, 10 rebounds and eight blocks, were the leading scorers Calabar.



For St Jago - the top scorers were Lushane Wilson with 13 points and 13 rebounds and Chevaughn Garnett got nine points and four rebounds.



Calabar turned in an excellent fourth quarter to beat Herbert Morrison Technical 70-67 and complete the double in the senior final.



Javardo Simmonds led the way for Calabar with a game high of 17 points and six rebounds.



He got good support from Maliek McCarthy who scored16 points and six rebounds.



Gregory Wallace 16 points and 24 rebounds and Ralique Grant 13 points and nine assists, were the main scorers for Herbert Morrison.
