PSOJ president disappointed about fuel price jump

Debbie-Ann Wright, GlThe PSOJ president says he's disappointed about the jump in fuel prices announced by state-owned oil refinery, Petrojam yesterday.

Petrojam says as of today gasoline prices will increase by $2.51 per litre, with E10 87 gasoline to be sold for $92.80 and E10 90 for $91.94.

It also said automotive diesel and kerosene prices would also increase.

However, Mahfood says he has noticed that Petrojam has been quick to increase the prices while it was slow to decrease them when gas prices were falling on the world market.

Mahfood says he hope the prices will be cut next week following yesterday’s 8.7 per cent drop in world oil prices.

Late last year Mahfood had taken Petrojam to task in relation to its pricing, accusing the refinery of not passing on savings to customers in line with the fall in world oil prices.

The PSOJ head remained dissatisfied even after a meeting with Petrojam executives aimed at clarifying the issues.
