ATHLETICS: Bolt to open season at Camperdown Classic
Jamaica’s six-time Olympic gold medallist Usain Bolt is expected to make his eagerly anticipated appearance at the Camperdown Classic on February 14.
Organizers of the meet, slated for next week Saturday at the National Stadium, announced that the star sprinter and his clubmates will be competing, barring injuries or unavoidable engagements.
Bolt is a member of Racers Track Club, home of some of the world’s top international athletes and is coached by Glen Mills.
Bolt has not run since last year, having called an early end to his season after withdrawing from the Weltklasse Zurich 100 metre race in Switzerland due to a foot injury.
Other members of the star-studded Racers cast also expected to open the season are double Olympic silver medalist Yohan Blake and Olympic medallists Michael Frater and Warren Weir.
Daniel Bailey of Antigua and Commonwealth Games 100 metres, sprint relay gold medallist Kemar Bailey-Cole and Olympic stars Kerron Stewart, Rosemarie Whyte and Schillonie Calvert are also expected to feature.
