Four illegal firearms and several rounds of assorted ammunition were seized by the police in separate incidents across the island in the last 24 hours.

Three men have been taken into custody in connection with the seizures, but the police have not released their identities.

According to the police, the first incident occurred shortly after 9 o’clock Friday evening when a semi-automatic pistol was found in a vending stall erected in an open lot on Bronte way in Duhaney Park, St Andrew.

Minutes later, the St James police reported that two firearms and 18 rounds of ammunition were found and two men taken into custody during a search of premises in Tangle River in the parish.

The Linstead police report that the other firearm was recovered after it was allegedly tossed from a house in the community.
