The National Housing Trust (NHT) is projecting that it will provide close to 6,000 loans to contributors this financial year.

The NHT’s senior general manager for Construction and Development, Donald Moore, says the loans will facilitate the purchase, repair or construction of housing solutions. Moore was speaking on Friday at the handing over ceremony for the Sandhills Vista scheme in Hellshire, St Catherine.

The scheme, which comprises 130 two-bedroom units, 50 three-bedroom units and 46 serviced lots, was constructed by the NHT at a cost of J$1.8 billion.

Prime Minister Portia Simpson Miller, who addressed the ceremony, gave an assurance that her government would continue working to improve housing access, even within national fiscal constraints.
