Sachin cracks century

Sachin Tendulkar\'s century crowned an encouraging first day for India, who are trying to win the fourth and final Test against hosts Australia to tie the series.



India who opted to bat on a superb Adelaide pitch closed on 309 for five with Tendulkar making an unbeaten 124.



Laxman shared 126 with Tendulkar, who struck 10 fours and three sixes in his 39th Test hundred.



Batting with Tendulkar is Mahendra Dhoni on six, having been dropped by Matthew Hayden.



Brett Lee and Michael Johnson have taken two wickets apiece for Australia.
