India have now climbed to second position in the International Cricket Council Test Championship table.

India started the series in fourth place, just behind South Africa and Sri Lanka.

However, South Africa’s 2-1 series win over eight-placed West Indies earlier this month relegated the team to fourth position and put Sri Lanka second.

But India moved into second place following its historic 72-run victory in the third Test in Perth and today’s drawn encounter.

India now sits on 111 points, two ahead of Sri Lanka and three in front of South Africa.

Australia, which started the series on 143 points, are still out front despite losing two points over the course of the series.
