Chanderpaul Sportsman of the Year

West Indies middle-order batsman Shivnarine Chanderpual was officially honoured as the 2007 Sportsman of the Year, at the 52nd National Sports Awards ceremony in Guyana.

The Sportswoman of the Year title went to 31 year old sprinter, Alicia Fortune.

Chanderpaul won the prestigious award in 1994, 1996 and 1998. He was the runner-up in 2005.

The region’s most dependable batsman now joins Clive Lloyd with the most senior Sportsman of the Year awards.

This is the first national Sportswoman of the Year award for Alicia Fortune.
