A man who sold a house which he did not own was ordered to pay $100,000 or spend six months in prison when he appeared in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate‘s Court on Monday.

Rodrick Samuels of Gordon Town, St Andrew, pleaded guilty to the charge of obtaining money by false pretence.

Allegations are that in September, Samuels sold a one-bedroom concrete structure for 70,000 to the complainant.

However, the accused had already sold the same house to another person for $55,000 two years ago.

Sentencing was handed down by Senior Resident Magistrate Judith Pusey.
