A man who sold a house which he did not own was ordered to pay $100,000 or spend six months in prison when he appeared in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrateā€˜s Court on Monday.

Rodrick Samuels of Gordon Town, St Andrew, pleaded guilty to the charge of obtaining money by false pretence.

Allegations are that in September, Samuels sold a one-bedroom concrete structure for 70,000 to the complainant.

However, the accused had already sold the same house to another person for $55,000 two years ago.

Sentencing was handed down by Senior Resident Magistrate Judith Pusey.
