The Jamaica Public Service Company (JPS) says the power outage now being experienced in Papine and surrounding communities in St Andrew is due to a motor vehicle crash this morning.

JPS says the crash, which occurred in the vicinity of the University of Technology, resulted in a broken pole and damage to a section of its power delivery system.

The company says in order to carry out repairs, service has been suspended for three hours and is expected to be restored by 2 o’clock this afternoon.

Among the areas affected are August Town, Dallas, Constitution Hill, Tavern, Gordon Town and Mavis Bank as well as the University of Technology.
