Scotiabank Jamaica closes two branches

The Bank of Nova Scotia Jamaica will be closing two branches, one in Lucea and the other at Premier, Constant Spring Road in Kingston, on May 22 and July 24, respectively.

Scotiabank said it was continuously reviews its operations to maximise efficiencies.

An update provided by the bank indicated that not all affected staff will be redeployed to other branches.

"As we go through this time of change, Scotiabank is committed to staying true to our principles of treating employees, fairly, equitably and with respect. In order to minimise the impact on our people, we will be giving priority to employees who will be impacted and are qualified for available positions," the bank said through Hope McMillan-Canaan, public and corporate affairs manager.

The bank did not state the number of staff affected, or address queries on the expected savings.
