Several killed in Haiti after public bus capsizes
PORT AU PRINCE, Haiti, CMC –Coordinator of the Haitian Organization Technical and Operational Services to Stop Accident, Garnel Michel, says 11 people were killed and several others injured when a public transport bus capsized on Sunday.
He said the crash occurred at Duchity Morne, in the locality of Fon Dewon, Grand’Anse, one of the 10 departments of the French-speaking Caribbean country.
The authorities said that at least 20 people were injured as a result of the crash.
Meanwhile, police are also investigating a report that a truck carrying sand hit a lamp post at Delmas on the outskirts of the capital damaging several houses before overturning.
They said two people died and one other was seriously injured.
The driver of the vehicle is reported to have fled the scene.
