21-strong for JaRIA awards

The Jamaica Reggae Industry Association (JaRIA) has selected 21 entertainment personalities for its 2015 awards. The ceremony will be held at the Courtleigh Hotel, New Kingston, on February 28. It is the premier function among a number of events which will be held in Reggae Month 2015 to celebrate reggae's contribution to the world.

Posthumous awards will be made to reggae veterans John Holt and Hopeton Lewis, in recognition of their invaluable contribution to growth of Jamaica's popular music. The Lifetime Achievement Awards will be presented to Vincent and Pat Chin, who are the owners of VP Records and originally ran the Randy's Record Shop and record label.

The other awardees are:

  • Ernie Smith (Male Artiste)
  • Millie Small (Female Artiste)
  • The Gaylads (Duo/Group)
  • Inner Circle (Band)
  • David Rodigan (Media)
  • Sting/Supreme Promotions (Promoter)
  • B. B. Seaton (Songwriter)
  • Cleve Laing (Stitchie) and Tyrone Thompson (Papa San) (Gospel Artiste).
