Free events on Marley's 70th
The 70th birthday celebrations for the Honourable Robert Nesta Marley, O.M, will be held under the theme, The Legacy Continues. Events will be held on at the Bob Marley Museum, 56 Hope Road, and Tuff Gong International, 220 Marcus Garvey Drive Kingston on February 6.
Entry is free and the public is invited.
The celebrations at the Bob Marley Museum will be opened to the public at 10 a.m. The day's activities include discussions on reggae and fashion, reggae music, and film and marijuana and the economy. Among the presenters are Dr Sonjah Stanley Niaah, Dr Dennis Howard and Carole Beckford.
Other activities to come on the day include the unveiling of Bob Marley's restored 1976 Land Rover Series III, which will then go on display permanently at the Bob Marley Museum.
REGGAE JAM SESSION
The celebration at the Bob Marley Museum will conclude with a reggae jam session featuring Bob Marley 70th ambassadors Chronixx, Kabaka Pyramid and the bongo band, No-Maddz as well as The Uprising Roots Band, Iba Mahr, DBurnz, Ishabel and others.
Secured parking for the Bob Marley Museum events is at the Police Officers Club, 34 Hope Road, with shuttle service provided.
The celebrations at Tuff Gong International will cater to children, who will be engaged in readings from Cedella Marley's books Three Little Birds and The Boy from Nine Miles. There will also be an excerpt presentation from the theatre production, Nesta's Rock.
On February 7th, a free Bob Marley concert will be on the waterfront in downtown Kingston.
