For the first time in its history, patrons will be able to watch the Grand Gala from the Ranny Williams Entertainment Centre at a free viewing party at the Independence Village on August 6 at 6 p.m.

The Village, which will be the heart of national activities for the 2015 Emancipation and Independence Celebrations, celebrated under the theme, 'Proud and Free! Jamaica 53', will be open with free admission on Independence Day from noon.

"We know that the demand for Grand Gala tickets is always high, and with the limited capacity of the stadium we decided to provide an alternative to persons who still want to watch the show," said Stephen Davidson, director of marketing and public relations at the Jamaica Cultural Development Commission (JCDC).

"The Village will be open from noon, so persons can come out a little earlier and enjoy all that the Independence Village has to offer," he continued.

In addition to hosting the Grand Gala Viewing Party, the Independence Village will feature activities for the entire family, including a lunch-hour concert, exhibitions, food court, petting zoo, a kiddies village, rides and other attractions.
