There were approximately 9,000 applicants, but up-and-coming reggae artiste dBURNZ and his band, The Flashmob, have been hand-picked to represent Jamaica at an internationally acclaimed music programme, courtesy of American sneakers company, Converse Incorporated.

Of the many applicants, only 84 of them were chosen for the programme and dBURNZ and The Flashmob have been selected to represent Jamaica. According to a release sent to The Gleaner, the programme will run for two weeks, and is offered to up-and-coming artistes worldwide to help them build their careers. Dubbed Converse Rubber Tracks, the programme not only offers exposure for up-and-coming acts in the music industry, but will also allow them access to famous studios around the world, including Converse Rubber Tracks in Brooklyn, New York, and Boston, Massachusetts; Abbey Road Studios in London, England; Sunset Sound in Los Angeles, California; and Tuff Gong in Kingston, Jamaica. The other artistes selected for the programme represent several other countries across the globe including the United States, Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, Chile, China, Colombia, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Iceland, India and the United Kingdom.

As part of the Converse Rubber Tracks studio takeover, selected acts will record alongside a team of experienced producers and sound engineers. Upon completion of their studio time, each act will retain all the rights to their music. The two-week programme got underway on Monday.
