JCDC competitions now open for entries

The Jamaica Cultural Development Commission (JCDC) is currently accepting entries for all competitions for the 2016 festival season. The competitions are open to individuals, schools, community groups, youth clubs, social clubs, performing arts clubs and church groups.

The competitions now open for entry are: the Jamaica Gospel Song Competition, the Jamaica Children's Gospel Song Competition, the Jamaica Festival Song Competition, the World Reggae Dance Championship, the Jamaica Creative Writing Competition and Exhibition, the Visual Arts Competition, The Big Stage, the Culinary Arts Competition, the Miss Jamaica Festival Queen Competition, and all areas of the National Festival of the Performing Arts such as speech, drama, music, traditional folk forms, dance and deaf dance.

In a release sent to The Gleaner, Stephen Davidson, JCDC's director of marketing and public relations, described the opportunities offered through these competitions as priceless, and highlighted that the competitions continue to allow Jamaicans to express their creativity and showcase how culturally aware they are. "The competitions offer attractive prizes, including cash incentives, trophies, gift packages in addition to being a part of the JCDC brand," he said. "The opportunities are priceless and life-changing."
