Best Weekend Ever ready for inaugural staging in St Ann
Promoters of new party weekend – Best Weekend Ever – say they are ready to deliver a cohesive entertainment package, epitomised by high energy music, local adventures, gastronomic diversity and top-shelf spirits.
Slated for the Garden Parish of St Ann, the series gets its start today and will end August 8. It will feature five popular parties and see the introduction of a new event.
The weekend begins with the I Love Soca cooler festival on Friday, August 5, featuring a performance from soca sensation Kes at Grizzly’s Plantation between the hours of 8 p.m. and 2 a.m. Daybreak Breakfast Party has been experiencing success within the diaspora and makes its homecoming on Saturday, August 6, kick-starting the celebration of Independence Day at 8 a.m. until 2 p.m. The celebrations continue at Milk and Honey; one of New York’s most fashionable events which features a performance from dancehall hitmaker Busy Signal in all-white style from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m. Both Daybreak and Milk and Honey will be held at Grizzly’s Plantation.
On Sunday, August 7, all roads lead to Puerto Seco Beach in Discovery Bay for the first staging of Zimi Seh Beach in Jamaica between the hours of 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. Allure makes a return to its birthplace in Ocho Rios at Bay Beach commencing at 8 p.m. to 2 a.m. with a performance from Ding Dong. Patrons will get an opportunity to make one last weekend memory at a relaxed beach cool down lyme dubbed Late Check Out at Grizzly’s Plantation Beach between 12 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Dwayne Dacres, managing director of Best Weekend Ever, said the series is a celebration of the resilience of the Jamaican entertainment industry. “Each event is a unique experience with a distinct Jamaican element that fits into our goal to market Jamaica through the aesthetic of the venues, the contagious beat of our music and the energy that our supporters bring. That was the concept that led to the seamless fusion of the six events that are included throughout the weekend, which we are confident will provide the best memories in paradise,” said Dacres.
All events are food inclusive with music from popular disc jockeys with premium alcohol available for purchase with the exception of I Love Soca, which is the only cooler festival included on the weekend line-up.
