Voicemail inks new deal

Voicemail, once a trio, proves that they are still a force to be reckoned with, even after the tragic loss of group member O’Neil Edwards more than a decade ago.

The duo, which comprises Kevyn and Qraig, currently released a triad of singles, namely Back To The Fun featuring Terro 3000, Do This Everyday and Steal. Come next month, they will depart for Europe to commence their fully booked three-month tour of the continent. Kevyn and Qraig were also recently featured in a docu-series by major German multimedia outlet TV Galileo, highlighting their global impact beyond Jamaica.

They recently signed a management deal with longtime friend and Grammy-winning producer/businessman Comar ‘Frankie’ Campbell of Frankie Music. Based on the aforementioned, it is clear that Voicemail’s hiatus was merely a strategic exercise to regroup.

It was in 2003 that Voicemail recorded their first local hit, Weh Di Time, followed by a series of hit singles, such as Gal Hunt, Ready To Party, and Wacky Dip. They performed at Spring Fest, Fully Loaded and Reggae Sumfest.

In July 2006, the group released their successful debut album, Hey, with VP Records. Their sophomore effort, Let’s Go, was distributed by Japan’s Pony Canon Label, and with their third album, Jump Off, the group opted for a new direction.

They have performed extensively across the globe and continue to enjoy an uptick in support.

Hennessy BRT ruled the weekend

With the next staging of BRT Weekend scheduled for April 2, at Miramar Regional Park, South Florida, the Hennessy BRT team is still popping their collar over the success of the popular all-inclusive spring break series held in Ocho Rios, recently.

Founder of BRT Weekend, Hans-Peter Mullings shared that he was pleased with this year’s staging of the annual three-day beach series.

“The turnouts have been amazing. All parties so far have been received with overwhelming support and great responses; we are so pleased with the reception here,” Mullings said.

The series kicked off with a VIP-only riverside brunch at Dunn’s River Falls, followed by Maui Wowi, a Hawaiian luau-themed event; Beach Bounce, a water-themed party; BRT Glow; BRT J’ouvert Breakfast Party; and BRT All-White.

Performances across two Caribbean genres, dancehall and soca, saw Skinny Fabulous, Preedy, Kraff, Skeng, Valiant, Ding Dong and The Ravers, Bounty Killer and more giving their best onstage, while Chromatic sound, Cyclone, Noah Powa, Crazy Neil, Coppershot, and Lava Sound kept the musical energy high.

Hennessy Jamaica, which markets its products as the Caribbean’s leading cognac brand, was the official title sponsor and delivered on their promise of an “elevated experience”.

The team executed event set-up, photo-op areas, drink mixes, an explosive fire show, and glowing acrobats.
