Happy international Chardonnay Day, wine lovers. Today, May 26, marks the celebration of the Chardonnay variety. With origins lying in the Burgundy region of eastern France, this beloved variety is one of the world’s most planted white wine grapes in the world.

Known to express its terroir, the green-skinned grapes of Chardonnay adapt well to a variety of climates, producing versatile wines. From crisp and clean to rich or oaky – there’s a Chardonnay for everyone. Its rich flavour profile range from lemon, apple, pear, pineapple, jackfruit, passion fruit, peach, and fig. After being fermented in barrels, it can develop notes of toast and spice, such as clove, vanilla, or nutmeg.

Chardonnay is a winemaker’s dream, because it can be made in a wide range of styles from lean, sparkling Blanc de Blancs to rich, creamy white wines aged in oak. It is the quintessential white wine to pair with any cuisine, from raw seafood like oysters, and sushi to lobster, chicken, pork tenderloin, and mushroom dishes. The crispness, minerality, and delicate flavours of Chardonnay crave crisp and delicate foods.

Trivento Reserve Chardonnay

This wine is a treasure for one to behold. The 2017 vintage was rated 89 points by Decanter (2018). On the palate, this Chardonnay is fresh and clean with mineral acidity. It is flattering in the mouth with good concentration and a fruity finish that will leave you saying, “Hey to Chardonnay.”

A treasure of Mendoza, Argentina, the Trivento range of wines is exquisite and to date is the best-selling Argentinian wine brand in the world.

Today is the perfect day to have Chardonnay. Celebrate this wonderful grape variety and let’s raise a glass to this amazingly versatile variety that is loved across the world. Cheers!
