JLP strapped for cash

The Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) initiative dubbed 'Project Victory', on which Andrew Holness hopes to rebound after a reported threat to his position as party leader, is

without funding.

This means Holness will have to scramble to finance his Project Victory, ahead of the six-week deadline given to him during a two-day caucus of parliamentarians which ended at the party's Belmont Road, New Kingston, headquarters this week.

Derrick Smith, leader of opposition business in the House of Representatives, conceded that the JLP, like most opposition parties, was strapped for cash.

Smith told journalists that plans are being fleshed out to address the impoverished state of the party.

Holness, who on Tuesday presented a paper on his proposed 'Project Victory', has been given until September 30 to assess the state of the party.

But the big problem insiders say is how the initiative will be funded to ensure Holness' success.
