With yesterday marking two months since an earthquake hit Ecuador, killing more than 655 people and leaving hundreds of thousands in need of desperate aid, the Latin American Women's Club of Jamaica is seeking to help victims get back on their feet.

The club has transferred J$167,000 to Ecuador via channels established by that country's Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The money was collected from the tickets that were sold at their last event, 'MaÒana de Juegos', among other individual donations.

About 70 persons congregated at the Stony Hill, St Andrew, residence of Kenny Benjamin to participate and generously contribute.

"On that note, let's always remember that individual actions may seem insignificant, but together, the small steps of many people have a tremendous impact," the club said in a release.
