#LocalGovtElection: 10 per cent voter turnout in first four hours of polling

The Electoral Office of Jamaica (EOJ) is reporting a 10 per cent voter turnout for the first four hours of the 16th Local Government Elections now underway.
The EOJ says up to 11 o'clock, a total of 183,743 ballots were cast across all 7,050 polling stations.
In the election for the Mayor of the Municipality of Portmore, 782 electors cast their ballots over the period.
This accounts for 8.12 per cent of registered electors.
The polls opened at 7 o'clock this morning and will close at 5 o'clock.
