From a grateful nation - Distinguished service, outstanding contribution, bravery recognised
A grateful nation recognised some of its outstanding citizens yesterday at the ceremony of investiture and presentation of national honours and awards at King's House.
Long and distinguished service, outstanding contribution and heart-stopping, life-and-death bravery were all highlighted. From the Order of Merit to the only living member of the Bob Marley and the Wailers group, Neville O'Reilly 'Bunny Wailer', being appointed to the Order of Merit, to the five Jamaicans being appointed to the Order of Jamaica, and the bravery of a nurse, risking her life to save sick babies in a hospital ward; or the young man who, although he could not swim, risked his life to save a boy, they all took a bow. And deservedly so.
Here are some highlights captured by our photographer, Lionel Rookwood.
