Junior Hayles, a 30-year-old police constable assigned to the Kingston East Division, has been charged with murder in connection with the July 2018 shooting of 33-year-old Vince Walcott of a St Catherine address.

Nicole Montaque, a 34-year-old beauty therapist of a Daytona address in Portmore, St Catherine, has also been charged with conspiracy to murder in relation to Walcott’s death.

In a release yesterday, the Jamaica Constabulary Force said the two were charged on Monday, but a court date has not yet been set.

This follows a ruling by the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions based on investigations into the death of Walcott, who was also known as ‘Steven Chambers’, of Mount Royal Estate, Bridgeport, St Catherine.

On Sunday, July 1, 2018, residents alerted the Jamaica Fire Brigade to tyres burning behind a church on Rousseau Road in Kingston 5, and during cooling-down operations, firefighters discovered the burnt remains of an adult male and called the police. A postmortem revealed he had been shot in the head.
