Akheem Bylthe ... The police say they are treating the matter as a case of death by drowning.

The body of a fifth-form student at the Manchester High School was this morning found in a tank near his home in the Mile Gully area.

The police were alerted by residents after the body of 17-year-old Ackeem Blythe was seen in the tank.

The police say they are treating the matter as a case of death by drowning.

A teacher at the institution told The Gleaner that the tragedy has shaken the school.

"I taught him for two years and he was such a good student. He was always present for class whether it was face to face or Zoom and he was always doing his work," the teacher said.

However, the teacher said the student was absent from a number of sessions this term.

"I really don't know what happened here. I am still in disbelief," she said.
