WESTERN BUREAU:

THE MORGAN’S Bridge police in Westmoreland are probing the murder of a 26-year-old man, who was slain outside the gates of a basic school in Grange Hill, Westmoreland, yesterday morning.

The deceased has been identified as Jervain Lue, otherwise called ‘Jetnakne’, of Grange Hill addresses.

Police reports said that Lue rode his motorcycle to the Grange Hill Basic School shortly after 8 a.m. and dropped off a female and a student.

On exiting the compound, he was intercepted by two men travelling on a motorcycle, who opened fire, hitting him multiple times.

He was assisted to the Savanna-la-Mar Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The shooting left parents and students traumatised and resulted in the suspension of school for the day.

“I was walking with my little daughter towards the school gate when I heard the gunshots, and when I looked, I saw one man running with a gun in him hand. So I took up my child and ran,” one female parent told The Gleaner.

“A di first mi ever see man a shoot man inna broad daylight, and a run wid gun like dem a police,” she added, noting that it was the first such incident occurring in clear view of parents and children.
