Rest stop for North-South Highway

Published:Tuesday | August 25, 2015 | 11:03 AM

Reference is made to a letter published in The Gleaner on Monday, August 10, 'Rest stop for North-South Highway', written by Winston Dear.

The National Road Operating and Constructing Company (NROCC) would like to address the concern raised in the article.

The concession agreement for the development of the North-South leg of Highway 2000 has a stipulation that the developer of the highway, Jamaica North South Highway Company Limited, provide a "commercial concession plaza". This plaza shall be provided to accommodate several of the vendors from the existing Faith's Pen facility.

It is worth noting that building applications have been submitted to the St Ann Parish Council for development of this "commercial concession plaza" in Unity Valley, Moneague, St Ann. Once approval has been granted from the relevant approving agencies, it is anticipated that construction will commence.
