Help for the needy

Published:Tuesday | October 20, 2015 | 12:00 AM

Sometimes we fall on hard times and find it difficult to meet our expenses. If only we knew the kind of hunger and atrocious living conditions some of our fellow citizens endure, we would complain less and be more grateful.

On Sunday, October 18, the Elitte Club, a non-profit organisation dedicated to serving the vulnerable and destitute, journeyed to the Lime Tree Grove and surrounding Lakes Pen communities in St Catherine, and donated well-needed food items and toiletries to a number of the more disadvantaged households. As the club members trotted through the communities, residents looked from their verandas, realising that boxes were being donated to their neighbours. Some shouted in genuine appeal: "What about over here?"

Sadly, the packages were not enough for all the people in need within the community. We appeal to Jamaica to be a part of our mission. Visit us at, or follow us on Instagram, @elitteclubja, to learn more.
