Who is public defender defending?
THE EDITOR, Sir:
I am reading the editorial in The Gleaner dated August 11, 2016. The editorial stated, "The public defender was established by law," according to the act, "for the purpose of protecting and enforcing the rights of citizens."
If, therefore, a majority of Jamaicans support the buggery law, whose right is the public defender protecting or enforcing? Surely, not the majority of the Jamaican people for whom the office was set up to defend.
