Christians, stand firm!
THE EDITOR, Sir:
Christians, not just in name, but in deeds, those who are on the battlefield with their sword and shield, you are not alone!
The war is fierce and real, and yet some don’t see. The reason is found in I Corinthians 2 vs 14 – “But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.”
My Christian brothers and sisters, when you are persecuted for doing good, meditate on these scriptures: Matthew 5 vs 10-12 and Daniel 12 vs 10.
Peter, through the Spirit of God, says: “Be alert, be on the watch! Your enemy, the devil, roams round like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour. Be firm in your faith and resist him, because you know that your fellow-believers in all the world are going through the same kind of suffering. But after you have suffered for a little while, the God of all grace, who calls you to share His eternal glory in union with Christ, will Himself perfect you and give you firmness, strength and a sure foundation. To Him be the power for ever! Amen.” (I Peter 5 vs 8-11).
The fulfilment of scripture is happening right before us.
Have you ever heard someone who sees or hears something good say “wicked”! Does this bother you, brothers and sisters? If it does not, consider this passage, Isaiah 5 vs 20 in the King James Version: “Woe unto them that call evil good and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter.”
As Christians, we must not be deceived by the world’s standard. We are “the light of the world and the salt of the earth”, and so we must shine our spiritual light and give godly flavour to the earth (Matthew 5 vs 13-16).
To the Most High God be honour, glory and might. Amen.
