Soar on, Dorraine, soar on
THE EDITOR, Sir:
Like an Eagle soaring above all others, and in an environment populated with myriads of artisans plying their trade in competition with each other, Dorraine Samuels paraded her craft aloft for all to see and hear. Dorraine was one of a kind, and will be sorely missed by all.
I am saddened by her passing, especially since I was there at the very commencement of her career, when, as programme director at RJR, I sought out and encouraged her to undertake an interview and audition for a position as presenter at RJR.
The world has benefited from her affirmative decision, as she became the choice of presenters in her class, first on radio and eventually also on television.
The ‘throne’ on which her profile sits was fashioned by her winsome personality, a thoughtful application of preparation, and the careful fusion of placing people first in line with friendliness, and usefulness of material relevant to their daily living.
I will miss Dorraine in my home, but I thank God for her time in the life of my family.
My condolences to her immediate family and her corporate media colleagues.
Winston A. Ridgard, OD
[Former RJR Programme Director]
