A man for all seasons
THE EDITOR, Sir:
The late Edward Seaga was to Jamaica what Colonel Sanders was to KFC. He knew the secret ingredients that would make Jamaica the best little nation on the planet, and his greatest wish was to see Jamaica realise its true potential economically, socially, culturally and politically. His contributions in those critically important areas of Jamaica’s national life are exceptional, excellent and unparalleled.
While at the helm of the ‘S.S. Jamaica’, for eight very challenging but very rewarding years, ‘Captain’ Edward Seaga capably, consistently, sternly and boldly steered her along the right course, through extremely ‘rough and choppy seas’, and brought her safely home to ‘harbour’, despite the additional havoc and strain on the nation’s Budget wreaked by the unwelcome visitor, Hurricane Gilbert.
Yet, despite all his hard work and many sacrifices, ‘Captain’ Edward Seaga’s contract to lead the ‘S.S. Jamaica’ into oceans yet unchartered and unconquered was, unfortunately, not renewed, despite his numerous valiant efforts in that regard.
The late, great Edward Phillip George Seaga was truly Jamaica’s man for all seasons. Walk good, Eddie!
