Malfunctioning street lights

Published:Friday | June 7, 2019 | 12:31 AM

Having the nation’s streets properly lit forms a critical component in national security.

On April 23, 2019, I first reported to the Jamaica Public Service Company (JPS) that the street light bearing the number 083166 is defective. It has been over a month, and the non-functioning street light has yet to be replaced. I have provided driving directions to the street pole, as were requested by JPS, and nothing has been done to date in order to resolve this issue.

I am aware that other street lights throughout the country are not working and that it will take some time to address all these issues. However, I believe that a month is adequate to have this malfunctioning street light remedied. I am making a public appeal to JPS for some assistance.

In order for us to achieve Jamaica’s National Development Plan, commonly referred to as Vision 2030, our light and power company must ensure that our streets are properly lit.
