Gleaner a great adviser to Jamaicans
THE EDITOR, Sir:
My father sold The Gleaner in the late 1960s or the early ‘70s, when I learnt a lot of things for having access to the newspaper. In other words, I grew up perusing The Gleaner every day, but all I wanted to know was what movie was playing at Cliff Theatre, the cinema in Lucea.
I could see the latest Bruce Lee movie, like Enter the Dragon, and the various other films starring Clint Eastwood and John Wayne, among others.
The Gleaner was instrumental in me learning new words. The newspaper is a great adviser to people who want to keep abreast of happenings in our society.
The Gleaner has been the epitome of excellence and genuine information for the past 185 years – although it feels like forever. We are indebted to The Gleaner for offering quality news for nearly two centuries.
