Travel Pal app commendable, but…

THE EDITOR, Madam:

It’s not that Mr Robert Montague is not believable, but over the years, Jamaicans have been served up many dishes of false promises by politicians, so much so, that the dishes now being served have to be eaten ‘with a grain of salt’.

Actions over the years by politicians have caused many Jamaicans to be cynical and sceptical when announcements are made, purportedly in the interest of the public.

The announcement by Transport Minister Montague regarding the launching of a ‘Travel Pal’ application (app) by the Transport Authority, come January 2020, will be viewed no differently.

This app will supposedly enable commuters to use their mobile devices to scan the registration plates of public passenger vehicles to verify if they are licensed by the agency.

That’s commendable, but we’ll await its implementation before applauding.
