Celebration of womanhood and diversity

THE EDITOR, Madam:

I was moved by the thought put into showcasing Jamaican women for International Women’s Day by The Gleaner. Normally this is done just one day of the year but for the entire week, I have been seeing females from all ages and all backgrounds being showcased. Their successes, their experiences, their influences. Hats off to you for thinking outside of the box. How refreshing! I haven’t seen female-centric content like this in ages.

I was particularly struck by the diversity of the groups of women. Our motto: ‘Out of many, one people’ really rang true while I turned the pages. Absolutely beautiful and a very timely reminder.

Women should always be celebrated. It’s on their shoulders that our country is built. Women keep civilisation going. I am proud to be a woman and even more proud to share the stage with these phenomenal leaders you have chosen to highlight.
