Maintain law and order in communities
THE EDITOR, Madam:
It is a common practice in most inner-city communities to have small shops built on the sidewalk with half of the shop actually in the road. I recently witnessed one such road, Barrett Drive in August Town, being repaved. The National Works Agency team had to pave around the part of the shop in the road. The phenomenon is also quite common downtown and across the city.
It’s one thing to have the sidewalk blocked by shack shops. It’s a whole ‘nother’ level when they spill over into the road. It’s clear that the authorities have given up on the maintenance of law and order in certain communities.
