What’s happening with Scotiabank?

Scotiabank Jamaica recently announced an upgrade to its credit card system. The result, for me, has been a severe downgrade in services.
My credit card was due to expire at the end of May 2021. Without telling me, Scotia cancelled my card over a month before that. I only discovered this when I attempted to make a purchase and suffered the embarrassment of a declined transaction with the notice ‘invalid card’.
To Scotia’s credit, I received the replacement card shortly thereafter. However, the card is useless, as all efforts to activate it have failed. Calls to the number given for activation all fail. Calls to the Scotiabank customer service number listed on its website and in its correspondence also failed.
More disturbingly, emails sent to their customer service email address elicited no response.
Unable to contact Scotiabank myself, I guess I must ask you, dear editor: Is Scotiabank Jamaica going out of business?
