Congratulations Raheem Sterling
THE EDITOR, Madam:
Raheem Sterling, Manchester City footballer, has been awarded the Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE). This was for his crusade since 2017 for racial equality in sports.
Well done, Mr Sterling, you have done your birthplace Jamaica proud. The imperative is to be audacious, speak your truth, and walk in your integrity. You represent what is good about this country. However, there is an ugly side that is diminishing its beauty.
Statistics reveal that Jamaica recorded in excess of 3,000 of cases of abuse against minors in the past year. To add to this egregious state, pastors are some of the predators in sexual abuse cases. Men who should protect the flock are the wolves.
These men/women calling themselves ministers of the gospel of Christ are instead hypocrites, rapists, charlatans, scammers, etc. God is going to judge you. Tek weh unuu self.
Jamaica, we must do better. Report all cases, and suspected ones, of child abuse. Yes, every well-thinking individual must play an active role. Save the children and save a nation, do not destroy the next Raheem Sterling.
