Kevin O. Smith, the controversial pastor of Pathways International Kingdom Restoration Ministries, and a policeman succumbed to injuries received in a car crash. He was being escorted from St James to Kingston to be charged with murder and other offences. Here are some readers’ reactions sourced from Facebook and Twitter pages of The Gleaner.

They had the entire Sunday to transfer them when the roads had significantly less traffic due to the lockdown. Nothing about how the JCF has handled this case makes sense.

Spooky, really spooky. Mek mi mind my business

– @SpenceNy

I wonder if this is gonna be a modern-day Lazarus episode.

– @MissEmmaDeLeon

RIP to the police officer who lost his life.

– Dre Maraj

Why transfer him to Kingston when he committed the crime in MoBay? Why were they not on the toll road?

– Sonji Faulknor

Condolences to the family of the policeman.

– Sylvannie Abrahams

That casket better open up a funeral cuz we nuh believe until we see him a go down.

– Christine Stephenson

Just sorry for the policeman family.

– Kenesha Francis

Sorry I don’t believe that one he dead for now.

– Dezrine Bud Clarke

Most of us Jamaicans were patiently anticipating the outcome of a trial because we believe that man held secrets for people in high places. Too bad this turned out to be another Peter King saga.

– Vassell Annmarie

Why you have to transfer a man from a next parish to be charged?

– Daniel Easey

Should we give him three days?

– Tessa James

The route of choice should have been the North-South Highway. Not saying that route is accident-free but the Bog Walk route is too risky, especially where there’s dangerous cargo being transported.

– WhiteDecember All White

Watch out. Next three days he might rise. Mi nah laugh, this is serious Jah Jah. Jamaica is not a real place.

– Arnex Billings

Need to see the body ourselves. I believe in conspiracies and this might very well be a cover-up.

– Loreal Campbell

This is not the ending we were looking for! No this man needs to be punished for the heinous acts he committed. SMH.

– Sharee Brissett

This is beyond absurd.

– Chris Jones

It seems like such an easy way for him to go, especially when you look at his crimes. – Trishana Dalling

Despite everything, it’s really sad. I pray God extends His mercy, because we all need it. This is nothing to rejoice about. – Shan Nelson
