In partial agreement with PM’s ‘argument done’ comment

Anyone who tells you that this is a pandemic of the unvaccinated is either brainwashed by Big Pharma and the mainstream media, or just ignorant. We are at the two-year anniversary of COVID-19 and if we follow some people in Jamaica, we will continue this COVID-19 hysteria for the next two years.

We are currently going through a fourth wave like every country worldwide, so blaming Jamaicans for the current wave is illogical. Jamaicans, and most citizens from around the world, have realised that this virus won’t go away even if the entire population is vaccinated. Prime Minister Andrew Holness and his administration clearly wanted to force Jamaicans to take the vaccines, but when they saw the polls and pushback, they’ve now taken the stance of ‘no vaccine mandates/option’.

I believe that since this fourth wave (for the past two weeks), we have had over 20,000 positive cases. And I can bet we don’t have over 50 deaths or in excess of 1,000 serious hospitalisations in that period. I also believe we’ve had over 50,000 tests in this period, so our positivity and fatality rates should not cause us to continue with our lives. Clearly, if we have more tests, we will have more cases. If 22 per cent of the population is fully vaccinated, why are some experts trying to scare the nation, saying that more patients are unvaccinated, when the population is 78 per cent unvaccinated? If the country is 99 per cent vaccinated, most cases and most hospitalisations will be from the vaccinated – that’s common sense.

In closing, I partially agree with the prime minister’s ‘argument done!!’ comment. My reasons for agreeing with Mr Holness partially is that he believes that vaccinating yourself out of a pandemic is the only way, but he and his health minister don’t give the nation the therapeutic treatments that they recommend doctors should use to treat patients who are moderately to seriously ill. Poor health and fear will increase your chances of dying if you catch the virus. So eat healthily, exercise, and avoid fearmongers.
