Spend funds wisely
THE EDITOR, Sir:
I would like to highlight two important issues. The Jamaica Labour Party conference, according to Minister Desmond McKenzie, would cost an estimated $50 million, and there is a massive problem with the public transport system in Jamaica. The main problem is that the Jamaica Urban Transit Company (JUTC) is in disarray. Allocating money to address the issues at JUTC would have gone a long way. People are suffering; there are very less buses on the roads. The ruling party should consider putting the people’s needs above anything else.
The powers that be have banned playing lewd music on radio and television, which is an excellent move. However, the Government should implement a total ban on playing lewd music. Steps should be taken to enforce the ban, especially in public places and public transport. Lewd music is being played in public spaces; it is loud, disgraceful and disrespectful
Many times, pastors and Christian people have meetings, but they never seem to mention anything about the hooliganism in the country. Many people continue to die at the hands of gunmen, and most of the time it is because of filthy music.
