THE EDITOR, Madam:
The recent global ratings released by US rating agency Standard & Poor’s (S&P) is a welcome news for Jamaica. S&P Global Ratings upgraded the Government of Jamaica’s Long-Term Foreign and Local Currency Issuer Default Rating from B+ to BB-, with a stable outlook. Congratulations are in order for the country, this is the best credit rating that Jamaica has received.
We are now in the advance investment mode currently enjoyed by our Caribbean counterparts such as Montserrat and Trinidad and Tobago.
This is welcome news, and Jamaica must now strive to remain a stable country for investments to be made, which will benefit all of us.
