With her humble being and the anticipation of making something of herself, Vilma Johnson journeyed from the island years ago to fulfil her destiny in New York.

As a registered nurse (now retired)there , she would over time build her dream house, not in the country that generated it, but rather, in the country that inspired it, Jamaica.

Vilma’s house on a rocky hillside, in Coconut Grove, Ocho Rios, St Ann, makes a statement, expressed with two powerful, distinguishing attributes that eyesight simply cannot overlook.

Firstly, is uncommon in Jamaica, with a two–tone colour scheme on its exterior. This trendy design style can also be seen on motor cars and clothing.

In this particular architectural case, the noticeable dual–tone combination appears on the lower and upper sections of the walls, with differing but coordinated hues of cream and orange–brown. Painting a picture that focuses your attention. The decramastic metal roof complements the overall image with its tint.

The second, distinct visual attribute of the abode is its semi–circular, part master bedroom projecting from the building, seemingly floating off the ground. A corresponding curved sea-view balcony sits atop it.

Without further ado, let’s step inside and be at one with the spirit of the space, partaking in all that it has to offer.

Soporific sections include five bedrooms (some with balconies), and five bathrooms, each with its sleek custom–fitted, glass shower enclosures.

Living, dining, and kitchen areas are contemporary in their composition, with the purple decor being a noticeable theme. The outlook from these sections capture the sea through windows and doors in all its awesome glory.

Details that vitalise the interiors are wood floors on the ground level, and ceramic tiles on the upper floor. Kitchen countertops pleasantly distract with granite material.

The forested one-acre plot displays a rare, multi–sided infinity pool, engulfed in palm trees.

Pergola seating and hammock areas dot the landscape for your relaxation.

The remodelled house was erected in the 1980s, but has been in the ownership of Vilma for 14 years.

Another location, another house, another surprise! ‘Dream House’ lives on.
